Pastel Chalk Lake Art 1940's Style

Soft Chalk Pastel Art

Lakeside Pastel Painting

A Day At The Lake

I love the look of old art from the 1940's with the exaggerated moons and bright suns. I designed this soft pastel painting from an old oil painting I love to get a similar look of its ambiance. However, I filtered the brightness throughout the sky to make the lake more inviting.

I can almost feel the sun on my face as if I were strolling through the surrounding trees and bushes.  I can imagine the gnarled Monterey pines, their branches reaching out like welcoming arms, lining the edge of the tranquil lake. The water, a mirror reflecting the azure sky, shimmers with the sun's brilliance. I breathe in the crisp air, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth, and it is invigorating!

I made it a challenge to capture the essence of this scene, particularly the way the light transforms the ordinary into something extraordinary.  This also reflects life.  As we courageously walk in the light of truth, we're able to see ourselves as we really are from the core of our beings. This is the place where I have been able to make the changes I needed to move forward for a better life. We don't always want to face our mistakes or negative attitudes, but it's necessary if we want to enjoy our best lives.

Painting Construction

I used an archival, high grade sanded paper size 15 x 24 inches to create this piece. It can fit into any picture frame with insertion from the backside. Instructions are given to keep the picture from touching the glass if you frame it yourself rather than having it professionally done.  Some collectors don't mind if the pastel painting touches glass while other do care.  -Margaret Lukasik
