Why and How I Painted The Fervent Prayer Painting In Oil and Acrylic
Written by Margaret Lukasik
My Inspiration To Paint "Fervent Prayer"
"Fervent Prayer" depicts a young woman immersed in a moment of profound prayer. The scene is set within a soft pastel background rather than a dimly lit room, creating a sense of joy and peace, and casting a sense of calm over the woman's face.
The atmosphere is hushed and reverent, evoking a sense of quiet contemplation and spiritual connection. I painted the woman's hands clasped in front of her chest with her eyes closed in deep concentration to give the sense of inner trust and knowing that the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces great results according to James 5:16. This is one of my favorite verses, so I wanted to represent it on canvas.
This painting is also my vision of the many women I've known and admired for their earnest prayers that have changed lives, countries and turned negative circumstances into positive situations.
Many people say that prayer doesn't work or that it's a foolish endeavor. As a woman of faith, I pray that in time those who know little about the power of prayer will come to see, as I have, that with knowledge and wisdom about how to pray, we can expect God to answer our prayers. However, in my early twenties when I was new to prayer and faith, my life was saved by praying a simple, child-like prayer for God to save me.
We can't change every aspect of the negativity in the world or the hardened hearts of people because God gave mankind a free will, but we can trust God to work where the human will can submit to His will for goodness through God's truth.
"Fervent Prayer" Oil Painting Information
The "Fervent Prayer" painting is at this moment complete, but drying. Then it will receive 2 to 3 coats of semi-gloss varnish for protection. I used a high quality acrylic for the underpainting and completed the piece with oil. The size is 12" x 16."
The flowers may show a little darker on your computer. Here is an enlargement of one of the Peony flowers to give more accuracy of the peony flowers I painted to enhance the story. - Margaret Lukasik
