Floppy Ears Yorky Painting

Baby Yorkie Painting by Margaret Lukasik
Baby Yorkie Painting by Margaret Lukasik

I just finished varnishing this painting that belongs in my Nature and Animal Collection. It's painted with my favorite heavy body acrylic paint by Golden. I love how bright the colors look even after the paint has dried. I used Gamblin to to bring out the highlights for even more intense color in the gold areas. This is my favorite oil paint.

I used my Yorkies' look of energy, mixed with sweetness and a slight touch of innocent mayhem from his puppy days for this painting. I can always tell when he's up to something a little sneaky. But he's very smart, well behaved and obedient most of the time.

His ears are floppy and his head and body a little shaggy for a scruffy look that suits him. He's lots of fun, so I hope that I captured those qualities. I've painted many paintings of him, so I thought I would share this one just in case he might be a good fit for someone's home.

Our Faithful Friends - I love to paint dogs and other animals. However, dogs are my favorite animal to paint. They're so kind and loving, and they add so much joy to our lives. They're a true gift that keeps on giving whether large or small.

I've had many dogs, but my three favorites are Sammy, my Maltese (sadly gone), my Yorkie named Angus, and our Rottweiler (sadly gone too), named Cody. - Margaret
